Driving up the Valley of the Salas River, towards Lanchaco, the landscape changes drammatically. The higher we get, the greener the forest. We drive till the boundary with the cloud forest. Tilansias and Bromelias and occasional orchids are abundant. The tree with The flying tilansia beards and the red seeds is, I guess, a "hualtaco" tree (Loxopterigium huasango). Some one told us, that it's seed are the favorit food of the rare "pava aliblanca" (Penelope albipennis).

Hello I just entered before I have to leave to the airport, it's been very nice to meet you, if you want here is the site I told you about where I type some stuff and make good money (I work from home): here it is
Some lovely photos there. I'm afraid this isn't really a comment, but I couldn't find another way of getting in touch with you.
I have just launched 'Top Tree Sites', a listing of tree sites ranked according to how many visits they recieve, and would like to invite you to join.
It would be great to get some more interesting sites, such as yours, listed.
Salud!
hola senora claudia lüthi,
your photographs show some of the most beautiful Tumbesian dry forest!
I am a biologist studying a Tumbesian bird species and would like to ask you if I may use two of your blog photographs 1)(one of the mesic valley with bananas at the valley floor) and 2)(the one with dry hill in the center and dusty road in the foreground with a single Prosopis (Algaroba) in the left middle.
They would be used in a scientific report and also possibly used in a public presentation that will not be sold, it is a part of my PhD thesis. I can send you a copy of the report when complete.
Of course, if you approved, I would acknowledge you as the photographer.
It is easiest if you can reply to this email:

Muchas gracias,
Niko
